Verification of the Identity of the DomainRegister Account Holder
Account authentication is a procedure through which DomainRegister verifies with certainty that a specific account is effectively attributable to a specific individual, professional, company, organization, association, or public entity.
This procedure helps increase the operational security of the account and facilitates the management of certain services and administrative procedures.
Account authentication is not mandatory for the ordinary use of DomainRegister services, but it may become necessary or strongly recommended under certain circumstances.
Before starting the account authentication procedure, please ensure that two-factor authentication (2FA) has been enabled for the account.
Purpose of Account Authentication
Account authentication may be used to:
- facilitate certain domain registration, transfer, and management procedures;
- simplify specific administrative and commercial processes;
- enable the possible granting of commercial credit facilities or payment terms;
- increase the overall security level of the account;
- reduce the risk of disputes regarding the identity of the account holder;
- facilitate account recovery and verification procedures.
DomainRegister may also require account authentication in situations requiring enhanced verification measures, including but not limited to:
- registration of domains of questionable legitimacy;
- registration of particularly sensitive domains or domains considered at increased abuse risk;
- reports concerning potential copyright infringements, trademark violations, or third-party rights infringements;
- unusual or anomalous use of services;
- particularly sensitive operational requests;
- administrative, anti-fraud, compliance, or security-related checks.
DomainRegister therefore reserves the right to request account authentication whenever deemed necessary for security, regulatory compliance, abuse prevention, or the protection of third parties.
Available Authentication Methods
To authenticate an account, it is necessary to complete and sign a declaration stating:
- the account holder’s personal or corporate details;
- the email address associated with the DomainRegister account;
- formal acknowledgment that the account registered with such details belongs to the declarant.
The declaration may be submitted exclusively through one of the methods described below.
1. Authentication at Our Headquarter
The declaration may be signed in person at our office, by appointment.
Appointments must be requested by opening a support ticket.
2. Registered Mail with Return Receipt (Companies, Organisations, and Associations Only)
Companies, organisations, associations, and public entities may submit the declaration by:
- using official company letterhead;
- providing a handwritten signature;
- attaching an up-to-date company registry extract (or equivalent official document), or other suitable documentation demonstrating the signing authority of the person executing the declaration.
The documentation must be sent exclusively by registered mail with return receipt to the following address:
PERSOLVO d.o.o.
Kraška ulica 2
6210 Sežana
Slovenia
DomainRegister may subsequently perform an additional verification by telephone or email.
3. Submission by Email with Qualified Digital Signature
The declaration may be submitted by ordinary email to:
provided that the document is digitally signed using a qualified electronic signature in PADES format.
6. Authentication by Bank Transfer (Individuals Only)
This is a temporary measure available exclusively to individuals who do not possess a qualified digital signature.
The user must pay for any of their existing orders by bank transfer, ensuring that the payment is made from a bank account held in the same name as the account holder.
After payment, the user must open a support ticket requesting account validation and provide a copy of the bank transfer confirmation.
The details contained in the transfer confirmation will be verified against the information available through the banking circuit, after which the account authentication procedure will be completed.
Validity of Account Authentication
Account authentication remains valid indefinitely, unless one of the following circumstances occurs:
- changes to the identifying details of the account holder;
- changes to the primary email address associated with the account;
- significant corporate changes;
- business transfers or changes of ownership;
- the need for renewed verification for security, compliance, fraud prevention, or abuse prevention purposes.
The authenticated status of the account is managed exclusively for internal purposes and is not publicly displayed or otherwise externally visible.
Identity Documents and Privacy Protection
Unless expressly requested by us, please do not send copies of personal identity documents.
The indiscriminate transmission of identity documents constitutes an unnecessary disclosure of personal data and does not, by itself, provide reliable proof of the sender’s identity or of the authenticity of the signature provided.
Furthermore, the processing of such documents is subject to specific legal restrictions, including those arising under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
For this reason, DomainRegister prefers authentication methods that are more reliable, verifiable, and compliant with European electronic identification standards.
Future Electronic Authentication Systems
Starting approximately from October 2026, DomainRegister plans to implement electronic authentication systems based on the European identification systems compliant with the eIDAS Regulation.
This system will enable a faster, more secure, and fully compliant authentication procedure aligned with European electronic identity standards.
